Navigating Vitality: How I Discovered the Power of Sea Moss

Navigating Vitality: How I Discovered the Power of Sea Moss

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to embody your highest self, to be able to reach your peak performance, to be in a state of being that is truly optimal? I am talking about a physical, mental, and an even spiritual level of being. To have a seemingly infinite source of energy at the moment you rise each day. Someone with a thinking capacity as sharp as a sword, living in a body that responds to its senses like a cat's. For me, I often wonder about this and believe that my greatest potential has still yet to be achieved. Over the years, I have tasted the possibilities but allowed myself to slip again and again due to societies pressures and my vices. In my eyes this is perfectly fine and all a part of the learning process in maintaining a vital state of being for as long as possible in todays world. Life is a journey and along the way I have made some discoveries that I believe have truly empowered me in ways I never thought possible. Here is my story about what led me to one of those discoveries, a gift from mother nature’s ocean.

I come from a background where I have been able to test my limits as a human being and this has led me to live a lifestyle that I categorize as experimental. Being lucky enough to grow up in a playground created by mother nature, I had a lot of opportunities to challenge myself. As a freestyle skier, skateboarder, cliff jumper, and more, I enjoyed testing my limits. Although, as a talented thrill seeker and a risk taker, I soon learned that societies influences could tend to get the best of me.

Unregrettably indulging in regular toxicity (drinking, smoking, eating junk food, whatever) but fortunate enough to have parents that were aware of the power of healthy consumption practices, I learned at a young age the importance of balance. As my parents were coming to maturity as modest young adults who recently moved to South Lake Tahoe, the world around them was changing, people were realizing what brought them into harmony. Routines that would bring their bodies back into balance. Raw nutrients and natural practices delivering life-force energy. I like to assume that the people in Tahoe were there because of this. They felt the purity of Tahoe's healing aura. Those who understand this show great gratitude and respect for that. This spirit of Tahoe brought people looking for deep nature, healthy practices, and a good time.

As a teenager, I came to the realization that superfoods truly exist and the health care revolution began in the hippy era. A superfood is a nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for well-being. I began making smoothies with so called superfoods, using algae like spirulina and chlorella, spices like cayenne, turmeric, and ginger, things like hemp and chia seeds, avocados, and various fruits. Lately adaptogenic mushrooms have made there way into my routines as well. The revitalizing drinks I learned to create tasted delicious and along with the occasional juiced fruits or vegetables my parents had me drink, I quickly realized the life giving power of superfoods. Over time, I believe the healing and energetic effects of these drinks subconsciously got me looking closer at the true limits of our human potential.

Some people likely consider taking “supplements” which can be great for a busy lifestyle, but my intuition had me sticking with all natural, unprocessed products. The way nature intended. I believe that as a being of the natural world, this made the most sense and the processed stuff just didn’t make me feel as good. Although, I was willing to experiment with anything that might help me live the wild lifestyle that I was seeking, while keeping me in my most vital state. After forming some healthy habits in Tahoe, I left to go to college in Santa Barbara, CA with no fully realized plans except to learn how to become a short board surfer after getting lucky enough to discover the passion on an island in Hawaii.

Exploring superfoods wasn’t solely about my physical potential. With my creative mind, I perceived the world as something magical. I soon noticed that in my most balanced states, I felt in harmony with the universe around me. With my head clear, I began to have interesting ideas and epiphanies more often. I started to notice this happening effortlessly and the capabilities of my creative imagination were enhanced. My emotional state was also easier to control. One of the biggest shifts I noticed was that I no longer suffered from constant grogginess. Eventually I realized I could face harder challenges easier with more stamina, both physical and mental. Who I was becoming was much more than I was expecting but I feel like deep down I knew my truth all along. As I continue to evolve, I learn more and more about the potential we have as humans.

Diving deeper into an experimental lifestyle, with some spiritual influence and a transition of my eating habits that was unintentionally building up over time, I decide to experiment with a fully plant-based/vegan eating habit. It lasted about 3 years and I loved it. There were many difficult factors to the lifestyle change but sticking to it with a natural, whole food based approach was worth it. A college course on human nutrition and deep personal study helped guide this plant-based adventure. Unexpectedly, due to a risky decision unrelated to my health, something serious happened in my last year of college. Although my blood tests showed no sign of concern, I could not maintain a well rounded meal plan that felt good and due to my life circumstances I completely gave up my plant-based discipline for the sake of my security. Currently, I follow a plant-forward approach to the way I eat and leave room for flexibility. I focus on eating fresh natural foods but occasionally indulge in processed food as part of my realized process. Although, my regular trend continues to push me to an all natural, plant-based approach to nutrition, incorporating a multitude of superfoods. For now, I am not sure if I will fully commit my self to rebuilding a strictly plant-based habit but I leave the possibility open to that commitment once again. This passionate feeling comes from the best thing I learned while living plant-based, and that has to do with alkalinity.

About half-way through enjoying my plant-based lifestyle I was introduced to a company called Fruits N Rootz through one of my best friends who is from Ethiopia. We were living together and he showed me what he had come across because it aligned with my way of living. The founder of the company, Chaka Zulu, who used his platform to not only share health but to raise money for orphans of war in Africa, was promoting sea moss and sharing knowledge about how alkalinity is the key to life. In essence, it is believed that as alkaline beings with electrical frequencies, alkaline foods with their own electrical frequencies give us the most life. On the other hand, acidic foods can lead to an overworked mucus membrane, that if not corrected, results in disease. Through my experimental studies over the years I began to feel the same way, with sea moss becoming a foundational element.

Today I use an alkaline blend of sea moss infused with fruit, dates, key lime, and spring water. I made the choice to promote and share sea moss with others because out of everything I have tried, I see it as the superfood of all superfoods. Containing 92 out of 102 minerals that form the human body, people have observed some amazing benefits by taking it routinely. Personally, the greatest benefits that I notice from taking sea moss are a boost of energy that is sustained throughout the day, along with a clearing of my respiratory system and a big impact on the quality of my digestion. Other benefits I notice are dissolved mucus, a better mood, detoxification, and clearer skin. The list goes on for the observed benefits of sea moss, from recovery after intense work outs, to enhanced libido, to revival from hangovers, immunity support, and more. Understanding how your body works on a cellular level can help you with how you intake nutrients. I try to use sea moss as a tool with a specific intention each time I take it, and I could not be more grateful for its introduction into my life.

Superfoods connect us to the natural world and the further we get from nature in the nature-culture dichotomy of current society, the stronger I believe that we must reconnect with nature through our food. Especially for those who live in a metropolis and who’s lives involve heavy use of screen technology. I don’t believe that food alone can suffice to connect us with our greatest potential. I strongly believe that calculated exercise habits, breathing techniques like meditation, and a physical connection to nature, are all a part of the formula to achieving our greatest capabilities of being.

With a tested understanding of our individual and unique relationship to the outside world, the nutrition habits we form serve as a foundation to collectively reaching our highest selves. Whether you take supplements or prefer natural products, it is up to you to experiment and I encourage you to try out different superfoods. Don't be afraid of something new and try to understand that our bodies are very adaptive. You might feel fine eating unhealthy but is that sustainable and really allowing your body to activate its highest sate of being on a cellular level? We all have different lifestyles and life circumstances but at the end of the day we should know what works best for our personal well-being to live the life we truly desire. Wishing you all power and peace always.
