Health Benefits of Sea Moss
Consuming Sea Moss
We love sea moss because it is a nutrient-dense seaweed with an abundance of potential health benefits, but it is not the type of seaweed you might be familiar with and it doesn't have an umami or salty flavor you might expect. It is actually quite plain on its own so that's one of the reasons we add organic fruit, dates, and key lime to liven up our sea moss gels.
Over 145 varieties of seaweed have been used in traditional diets over the centuries in many coastal cultures around the world. Although, seaweed is not often used in western countries and is usually only found in eastern cuisines but given the health benefits of these sea vegetables, we want to help change that.

We can suggest many reasons why sea moss increases energy levels. Most notable is its high content of iodine which is essential to producing the thyroid hormone, directly linked to body's metabolism to break down food, regulate breathing and heart rate and in turn food into energy. The presence of iron to transport oxygen to cells, B vitamins to assist in metabolism, and antioxidants to reduce oxidative stress can also contribute to natural increasing overall energy levels.

Additionally Iron, Magnesium, and Calcium are minerals essential to keeping skin youthful and clear. Sea moss is also known to support a healthy gut which is another key contributor to healthy skin.
Potential Neuroprotective Effects
Recent studies have been conducted to test the effect of marine algae on neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's (AD), Parkinson's, Huntington's, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Notably significant is the commonality that seaweed, including red algae like sea moss (pg. 363), has to a common prescription for AD which acts as an enzyme inhibitor to prevent the breakdown of an important neurotransmitter in the brain related to memory, learning, attention, arousal, and reflex.
